Genuine OEM Volkswagen / Siemens turn signal and hazard flasher relay, part number 111 953 227 D.

This is the three-pin flasher relay that runs the turn signals and the four-way hazards. It is the part that does the clicking and makes the bulbs blink. A worn-out flasher is the usual cause of indicators that glow steady instead of flashing, blink far faster than normal, or drop out on one side only.
