Volkswagen coolant hose junction connector for the Vanagon Syncro, VW part number 251 121 442 A. Also listed as the four way coolant hose connection, or the Syncro coolant distribution tower.
What it is: the moulded plastic junction that splits and joins the coolant hoses in the Syncro cooling system. Coolant from the front radiator circuit is distributed through this one piece, so every hose it feeds depends on it.
Syncro only. This is the 4WD part, fitted to T25 and Vanagon Syncro from 08/1985 to 1991. The two wheel drive vans use a different junction and this will not substitute for it, so check that you are looking at the Syncro part before ordering.
Why people look for these: the factory piece is plastic, and after decades of heat cycling it goes brittle and can crack or snap at a port, which empties the cooling system quickly. That failure is the reason aluminium and stainless replacements exist. A sound original is still the correct fit and the correct hose geometry, and is worth having as a spare.
Condition: used original, as pictured. The plastic is weathered and faded with staining and road grime across the body. All ports are present and the retaining collar on the large port is intact. Buy it as a used original rather than as a guaranteed-sound part: give it a close look on arrival and pressure test the system after fitting, as you would with any plastic coolant part of this age.
Only one photograph is currently posted. Ask if you would like more angles or a close look at any particular port before buying.
